An increase in the rates of reported cases of hepatitis A from 2016 through 2019 has been observed among both males and females. In 2020, the rates of reported hepatitis A cases decreased among males and females.
During 2020, the rate of reported hepatitis A virus infection was 3.8 cases per 100,000 population for males, which represents a 48% decrease in the rate from 2019 but remains more than 7 times the corresponding rate during 2015 (0.5 cases per 100,000 population). Among females, the 2020 rate of 2.3 cases per 100,000 population represents a 45% decline in the rate from 2019 but remains more than 5 times the corresponding rate during 2015 (0.4 cases per 100,000 population).
