Exercise 1: Configuring Multi-Series Charts.  This exercise, along with exercises 2 and 3, demonstrates the configuration of bar and line charts from different source data formats.  The first three exercises are essentially an introduction to basic charting in COVE. Recommended prerequisite:  Review the concepts in Defining Data for Visualization.

Exercise 4: Building a Numeric Map and Setting up Filter Controls This exercise, along with Exercise 5, provides a solid introduction to data mapping with COVE.  In addition to setting up a numeric map, you learn how to configure filter controls (a skill you can also apply to charts).  Along the way, you learn about some key options for controlling the look and behavior of your maps. Recommended prerequisite:  Review the concepts in Defining Data for Visualization.

Exercise 4: Building a Numeric Map and Setting up Filter Controls This exercise, along with Exercise 5, provides a solid introduction to data mapping with COVE.  In addition to setting up a numeric map, you learn how to configure filter controls (a skill you can also apply to charts).  Along the way, you learn about some key options for controlling the look and behavior of your maps. Recommended prerequisite:  Review the concepts in Defining Data for Visualization.

Exercise 5: Building a Categorical Map.  This exercise demonstrates the configuration of categorical maps, which visualize non-numeric data series (e.g., LowMediumHigh)This exercise also demonstrates how to add data columns to tooltips and the data table, while reinforcing some skills from the last exercise, such as setting up filter controls. Recommended prerequisites:  Do Exercise 4 and review the concepts in Defining Data for Visualization.

Exercise 5: Building a Categorical Map.  This exercise demonstrates the configuration of categorical maps, which visualize non-numeric data series (e.g., LowMediumHigh)This exercise also demonstrates how to add data columns to tooltips and the data table, while reinforcing some skills from the last exercise, such as setting up filter controls. Recommended prerequisites:  Do Exercise 4 and review the concepts in Defining Data for Visualization.
