World Trade Center Health Program Research: 2026 Funding Opportunities

The WTC Health Program is pleased to share two research funding opportunities that are open for application. Those interested in applying must do so by Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at 11:59 PM (Eastern Time).
Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a letter of intent by May 29, 2026, to effectively aid expedited planning for peer review.

U01 Cooperative Agreement (up to 3 years)
The WTC Health Program seeks strong research proposals for major areas of interest such as:
- Linking exposure to 9/11 attacks to health conditions,
- Characterizing and treating established WTC-related conditions,
- Conducting health services research to help the Program understand the effectiveness and efficiency of the Program’s healthcare delivery system and its impact on its members’ health and well-being, and
- Characterizing impacts of 9/11 on job performance and occupational outcomes.
R21 Exploratory/Developmental Projects (2 years)
The WTC Health Program seeks strong exploratory or developmental research proposals, and encourages proposals in the following domains:
- Evidence-based strategies to improve treatment effectiveness, diagnostic practices, and program evaluation,
- Lifestyle medicine research related to the WTC Health Program, and
- Studies focused solely on the Survivor population.
