Coverage Updates for Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Treatment
August 23, 2023
The World Trade Center (WTC) Health Program updated coverage for repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) treatment. Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) is used for the purpose of treating Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) without Psychosis. Coverage for rTMS has been updated to allow for more flexibility in the treatment schedule.
The coverage has also expanded to allow rTMS treatment for members with the following medical history:
- A history of an isolated seizure without recurrence that has not required medication.
- A history of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Additional details on the update to rTMS treatment is available in the WTC Health Program Administrative Manual-rTMS.
