CDCM PHA STEM Lesson – Preparing for Disasters
In Preparing for Disasters, student scientists learn how public health workers help communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from different types of emergencies and disasters. Students evaluate the types of disasters that are most likely where they live and develop a household emergency plan for them. Students assemble the necessary supplies to build a household emergency kit for the disasters identified. Students share their preparations with others to show how disaster preparedness is important to survival in an emergency.
