Map details

The striking patterns of high prevalence for both in the southern and eastern portions of the state support a need for strong interventions among this population. Findings have been shared with programs working on hypertension initiatives in the health department and will be shared with partners to initiate and sustain activities in this area.

Medicare fee-for-service claims data for 2015, Chronic Condition Warehouse, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services; Medicare Part D claims data for 2014, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services obtained through the Interactive Atlas of Heart Disease and Stroke, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

County-level hypertension prevalence among Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries was obtained from the Chronic Condition Warehouse. County-level Renin-Angiotensin System Antagonist (RASA) nonadherence prevalence among Medicare Part D beneficiaries was obtained from the CDC Interactive Atlas of Heart Disease and Stroke. Arkansas hypertension and RASA nonadherence prevalence were mapped using the quantile classification method in ArcGIS 10.4.
