Disaster Epidemiology Community of Practice (DECoP)

The CDC Disaster Epidemiology Community of Practice (DECoP) is a collaborative group of CDC, other federal, and state partners established to provide technical resources to partners, expand use of disaster surveillance tools, and evaluate tools and guidelines to improve situational awareness and response activities.

Overview

The Disaster Epidemiology Community of Practice (DECoP) has a SharePoint site and Listserv about disaster epidemiology. You are invited to participate in this online community.

The purpose of the DECoP SharePoint site is to utilize tools made available through the site. The DECoP SharePoint site also allows collaboration with state and federal partners by communicating information to others before, during, or after a disaster event.

There are several tools and information currently available to users including:

  • Discussion tools
  • Topic lists
  • Downloadable documents

This site is for everything disaster epidemiology related.

The purpose of the Listserv is to communicate directly to and among DECoP members. This communication involves disaster epidemiology information that requires a timely response or notification.

Instructions for joining the DECoP

If you would like to join the DECoP SharePoint site and Listserv please follow these steps:

  1. Request access to both the Listserv and SharePoint site by emailing your full name and preferred email address to DECoP@cdc.gov.
  2. You will be directly added to the DECoP Listserv.
    1. Notification from "LISTSERV@listserv.cdc.gov" will inform you that you were properly added and can now send/receive emails from the Listserv "cdcl-decop@listserv.cdc.gov".
    2. Details about how to manage your Listserv account, set/reset your password, and unsubscribe can be found within the email.
  3. You will receive an email from "sams-no-reply@cdc.gov"entitled "U.S. Centers for Disease Control: SAMS Partner Portal-Invitation to Register" within 4-24 hours.
    1. Please email DECoP@cdc.gov if you do not receive an email
  4. Follow the instructions in the invitation email to register, your invitation is valid for 30 days
    1. Click on the link in the email you received.
    2. Enter email/username and temporary password (provided in email)
  5. Email DECoP@cdc.gov when your account access has been granted.
  6. Once approved, you will receive an invitation email for the Disaster Epidemiology Community of Practice SharePoint site.
  7. Navigate to https://cdcpartners.sharepoint.com/sites/decop/default.aspx
  8. You will be rerouted to the SAMS log-in page
    1. Enter your SAMS username and password or use your HHS credentials if you are HHS staff in the designated column.
  9. Explore the information and tools on the DECoP Sharepoint
    1. All suggestions for improvement are welcome. Please add suggestions to the "Ways to improve the DECoP SharePoint" discussion or email DECoP@cdc.gov.
