The University of Minnesota developed a new partnership with Centre for Asian and Pacific Islanders (CAPI USA), an organization that supports immigrants and refugees with their basic needs and financial stability.

On Friday, January 26, CAPI USA hosted their first vaccine clinic in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. Attendees represented diverse communities and spoke several languages, including Spanish, Hmong, and Karen. The vaccine clinic was set up as a health fair and there were many organizations at the event to provide resources, including CAPI USA, Medica, Hennepin Health, Minnesota Senior Linkage Line, Minneapolis Health Department, Brooklyn Park Library, UCare, and PCS for People.

At the event, UMN and partners collected 5 health needs assessments, administered 70 COVID-19 vaccines, provided 40 gift cards as incentives, and shared over 150 health education materials. Given its success, UMN and partners held a similar event in February.
