Considerations
Which location supports your data
NCHS RDCs can support approved projects involving any data featured on this site.
Some restricted data are only available at NCHS RDCs.
- Chronic Fatigue Syndrome study data
- Vaccine Safety Datalink data
What statistical software is available at the location
NCHS RDC labs have the most common statistical software packages. Some software modules for R and Stata are not readily available at all locations. Contact the NCHS RDC for details about availability.
Contact individual FSRDCs to determine available statistical software packages.
Your proficiency in writing programs for your software
You must be able to troubleshoot any problems that arise during your analysis. RDC staff cannot assist you with writing programs for your analysis.
You cannot bring hardcopies of notes or reference materials into RDC facilities. Submit all notes and references materials electronically to your RDC analyst for approval prior to your visit.
Your citizenship status
If you are not a U.S. citizen, there are additional requirements to access RDC data. Please email NCHS RDC and individual FSRDCs to inquire about access requirements before writing your proposal.
How near you are to a location
If you are affiliated with an FSRDC partner
Find out if your organization or institution is an FSRDC partner.
FSRDC partners may receive subsidized services. Contact the FSRDC administrator affiliated with your organization or institution for details.
If your budget supports your project costs
The minimum cost to access restricted data through an NCHS RDC is $3,000.
FSRDCs may charge additional fees. Contact an FSRDC for more information.
