Restricted-Use Linked NAMCS HC Component – HUD Administrative Housing Data

Through its data linkage program, NCHS has enhanced the analytic utility of National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey (NAMCS) Health Center (HC) Component data by linking patient electronic health records (EHR) with up to three years of housing assistance program participation data from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) largest housing assistance programs: the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program, Public Housing (PH) , and privately owned, subsidized Multifamily housing (MF). Linkage of NAMCS HC Component data with HUD administrative data provides the data resources necessary to support a wide array of studies designed to investigate the associations of housing support program participation and patient health outcomes.

Data Access

Due to confidentiality requirements, the Restricted-use linked NAMCS HC Component-HUD data are accessible only through the NCHS Research Data Center (RDC) Network. All interested researchers must submit a research proposal to the RDC.  Please see the RDC website for instructions on submitting a proposal.
