Fields
Geography: Select which column contains the correct geographic names for configuration. This column must comply with data map standards as explained in the Data Formatting Toolkit.
Hide Geography Column Name in Tooltip: Hide the column title in the tooltip.
Geography Label: Enter an alternate label for the geography column. This cannot be used in combination with the Hide Geography Column Name in Tooltip option.
Data Column: Select the data column that contains the information you want to display. The source data may have multiple columns of data, but only one can be color-coded in the map visualization. You can include other data in the data table and tooltips with the Add Column option.
Hide Data Column Name in Tooltip: Hide the data column name in the tooltip.
Data Label: Indicate the display label for the mapped data, if different from the source column header.
Prefix: Add characters before the data, such as $.
Suffix: Add characters after the data, such as %.
Round: Set the number of places to round the data to.
Add Commas to Numbers: Commas can be added to large numbers to increase readability. Commas added into a data file may cause issues in the editor. Remove them from the data and select this option box to add them to the chart automatically.
Show in Data Table: Check to show this column in the data table.
Show in Tooltips: Check to show this information in the tooltip hover.
Latitude Column: Select the column that has the latitude values for city mapping.
Longitude Column: Select the column that has the longitude values for city mapping.
Add Special Class: If your data include values such as “*” or “NA,” you should specify them so that they are handled correctly by the editor. Special classes are color-coded in shades of gray in the map visualization to indicate their secondary status. For optimal usability, avoid having more than two special classes in a map.
- Data Key: Select the column that has the value for your special class.
- Value: Select the specific value.
- Label: Type the label for the special class so they are easily understood.
Navigation: Select the column that contains URL for click-through navigation.
Add Column: The source data file may included data in addition to the values being mapped. To add a column to the data table and/or the tooltips, click Add Column and then complete the information for the additional column. Repeat as necessary until all additional columns you want to include are configured.
