IVF Success Estimator

At a glance

The IVF Success Estimator is a tool that can estimate the chance of having a live birth using in vitro fertilization (IVF).

About the IVF success estimator

CDC gathers data from fertility clinics across the United States each year as part of the National Assisted Reproductive Technology Surveillance System. These data allow CDC to report success rates of assisted reproductive technology (ART) treatments.

Using the information that you enter below, this tool can estimate your chance of having a live birth using IVF—the most common type of ART.

This information is calculated based on the experiences of patients and couples with similar characteristics. However, this tool does have some limitations.

This tool can only give estimates for people who are age 20 to 50. If you are younger than 20 or older than 50 and try to enter your true age, the tool will not be able to provide an estimate. Instead, it will ask you to enter a value between 20 and 50. Enter the number that is closest to your true age.

Another limitation is that the tool can only generate estimates for specific ranges for height and weight.

Please note that the IVF Success Estimator does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. You should always talk with your doctor about your specific treatment plan and potential for success.

These estimates may not reflect your actual chances of success during ART treatment and are only being provided for informational purposes. Estimates are less reliable at certain ranges and values of age, weight, height, and previous pregnancy and ART experiences. Please see your doctor or healthcare provider for a personalized treatment plan.
