About the CDC Public Health Academy
The Public Health Academy series sponsored by the Coalition for Health Funding and the CDC Foundation provides a unique and interactive way to highlight and educate policymakers about the core capabilities of CDC and public health. Speakers at the in-person Capitol Hill events provide insight into the work public health professionals do every day, and in every community, to protect Americans and people around the world from public health threats.
Core capabilities are the foundational capacities that are critical for CDC and our state, local, territorial and tribal partners to effectively prevent, detect and respond to our nation’s public health challenges.
Core capabilities of public health include:
- A diverse public health workforce that reflects the community it serves;
- World class data and analytics;
- State of the art laboratories;
- Foundation of strong global health capacity and domestic preparedness; and
- Ability to quickly respond to outbreaks at their source, both domestic and abroad.
We hope the following quizzes provide an opportunity to learn and share some insights on these topics – so go ahead and test your knowledge!
