This table describes the number of cases of tuberculosis (TB) disease and incidence rates by U.S. reporting areas for 2023 and 2024.

Key Highlights

  • From 2023 to 2024, increases in TB were widespread with 39 of 52 reporting jurisdictions reporting increases in TB case counts and rates; 5 jurisdictions reported case count increases of 50% or more.
  • Similar to previous years, approximately half (50%) of TB cases in the U.S. were reported by 4 states: California (2,109), Texas (1,279), New York (1,083), and Florida (675). Incidence rates (per 100,000 persons) were highest in Alaska (12.3), New York City (9.8), Hawaii (8.1), and California (5.3).
