This table reports the number of cases of tuberculosis (TB) disease by initial reason for TB evaluation and U.S. reporting area in 2024.

Key Highlights

  • In 2024, TB symptoms was the initial reason for evaluation for 64% of TB cases nationally.
  • TB symptoms was the most frequently reported reason for initial evaluation in all reporting areas except Kansas, Mississippi, New Hampshire, and Federated States of Micronesia.
  • Contact investigation was most frequently reported in Kansas and Federated States of Micronesia; in Mississippi and New Hampshire, Other reasons for initial evaluation were most frequently reported.
