The map shows location of Delta counties (n = 252) and non-Delta counties (n = 468) in 8 states (Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee) that contain parts of the Mississippi Delta Region. Delta counties adjoin the Mississippi River or counties adjacent to the river with the exception of counties in western Alabama, which are classified as part of the region but do not adjoin the river or counties adjacent to the river.
