Call for Papers: Emergency Preparedness and Chronic Conditions

Preventing Chronic Disease (PCD) invites researchers, evaluators, and practitioners to submit manuscripts for an upcoming collection dedicated to the intersection of emergency preparedness and chronic conditions. This collection aims to highlight innovative approaches and practical solutions that address the unique challenges faced by individuals with chronic health issues during emergencies and disasters.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Risk assessment and mitigation strategies for people with chronic diseases

• Community-based preparedness initiatives and their impact on chronic condition management
• Technological innovations supporting continuity of care during emergencies
• Access to emergency resources for people with chronic health needs

• Mental health impacts and resilience strategies for individuals with chronic diseases during disasters
• Collaborations between healthcare providers, public health agencies, and emergency responders
• Lessons learned from past emergencies affecting people with chronic conditions

Submission Guidelines

Manuscripts should be submitted to PCD on or before December 18, 2026. Submitted manuscripts will be reviewed and, if accepted, published on a rolling basis. Once all accepted manuscripts have been published, they will be compiled into a PDF collection accessible on the PCD website. Manuscripts must adhere to PCD’s Types of Articles instructions and will undergo the journal’s standard review processes.
