CDC activated its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to support the response to Hurricane Dolly.
About the Response
Hurricane Dolly, a Category 2 storm, struck the Texas-Mexico coastline on July 23, 2008. At its strongest, the storm's winds reached sustained speeds of 100 miles per hour.
On July 24, 2008, Dolly downgraded to a tropical storm as it landed in South Padre Island, Texas. CDC activated the EOC to support Dolly's response operations.
The activities included activating a hurricane communication plan, preparing messaging to the Texas State Health Department, and participating in FEMA, HHS, and IMS conference calls.
