About

The primary use of acrylamide is in the production of polyacrylamide polymers. Secondary applications include use as a chemical intermediate in the production of dyes and organic substances, such as N-methylol acrylamide and N-butoxyacrylamide, and as a binder and retention aid in pulp and paper production. The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) reported that in 2006 and 2007 the demand for acrylamide in the United States was 245 and 253 million pounds, respectively.
