Environmental Justice Resource Inventory
This inventory includes publicly available environmental justice (EJ) resources developed by various agencies across the United States, within jurisdictions that have programs funded by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Environmental Public Health Tracking Program. Mapping tools include the geographic resolution of the available data in parentheses.

Human Right to Water Framework and Data Tool (CalHRTW 1.0)
Type of Resource: Mapping Tool (water system)
CalHRTW measures nine indicators and three composite scores for drinking water quality, accessibility, and affordability provided by the state’s community water systems. The web tool shows indicator and component scores for community water systems.
Disadvantaged Communities Map
Type of Resource: Mapping Tool (census tract)
This map shows the disadvantaged communities designated by California Environmental Protection Agency. These areas represent the 25% highest scoring census tracts in CalEnviroScreen 3.0, along with other areas with high amounts of pollution and low populations.
California Healthy Places Index

The California Healthy Places Index shows local factors that predict life expectancy and compares community conditions across the state. It provides overall scores and more detailed data on specific areas that shape health, like housing, transportation, education and more.
CalEnviroScreen 4.0

CalEnviroScreen is a screening tool used to help identify communities disproportionately burdened by multiple sources of pollution and with population characteristics that make them more sensitive to pollution.
Pollution and Prejudice: Redlining and Environmental Injustice in California

This story map helps agency staff and the public explore the connection between racist land use practices of the 1930s and the persistence of environmental injustice.
Community Health & the Environment in Commerce City-North Denver
Type of Resource: Dashboard and Story Map
This interactive dashboard and interpretive story map can be used to analyze and communicate relationships between environmental exposures and health outcomes in the Commerce City-North Denver (CC-ND) neighborhood. The CC-ND neighborhood experiences many EJ issues, including proximity to the VB/I-70 Superfund site and other legacy pollution sources, concentration of polluting industry, and intersecting high traffic roadways.
Disproportionately Impacted Communities (interim data viewer)

This interim mapping tool displays disproportionately impacted communities as defined by the Colorado Environmental Justice Act. It maps the communities that meet the demographic-based definition. Communities that meet the other portions of the definition are forthcoming.
Climate Equity Data Viewer

This is a mapping tool that helps identify disproportionately impacted communities throughout the state. The tool combines environmental exposures, projected climate impacts, and population characteristics to calculate a climate equity score for each census block group in Colorado.

Identifying Louisiana Communities at the Crossroads of Environmental and Social Vulnerability, COVID-19, and Asthma
Type of Resource: Report
This report explores possible associations between social and environmental vulnerability and health outcomes, such as COVID-19 and asthma. It identifies several areas of EJ concern that have a high burden of COVID-19 and asthma. It proposes various interventions to improve environmental health outcomes in these areas.
Environmental Justice Maps Viewer
Type of Resource: Mapping Tool (census block group)
This mapping tool can be used to identify which neighborhoods are defined as an Environmental Justice population. Neighborhoods meet this designation if one or more of the following criteria are true:
- the annual median household income is nor more than 65 percent of the statewide annual median household income;
- people from racial and ethnic minority groups comprise 40 percent or more of the population;
- 25 percent or more of households lack English language proficiency, or;
people from racial and ethnic minority groups comprise 25 percent or more of the population and the annual median household income of the municipality in which their neighborhood is located does not exceed 150 percent of the statewide annual median household income.

This mapping tool is intended to facilitate inclusive community planning for environmental assessment and to inform a wide range of activities such as siting, permitting, Brownfields clean-up, Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act review, grant applications, transportation projects, and community, health, or climate-related impact assessments.

New Hampshire Social Vulnerability Index Dashboard

This dashboard allows users to examine which communities may be most vulnerable to external stressors such as floods, forest fires, power outages and winter storms. It compiles 16 factors at the census tract level in four categories: socioeconomic status, household/disability, minority/language, and housing/transportation.
Social Determinants of Health Dashboard

This dashboard provides counts and rates across census tracts, towns/cities, counties, and state-wide geographies for over 40 measures including social and economic opportunities, and barriers that can make individuals and communities more vulnerable to many health risks.
Lead Exposure Data Briefs

These annual data briefs summarize childhood lead exposure at the public health region level using statistics provided by towns within each region. The reports also include town level data about six childhood lead risk factors, such as housing age and rental units, and maps showing the number of children with elevated blood lead levels by census tract.

This interactive map shows potential lead exposure from housing. Phase I includes housing age of each parcel (individual residence) in the state and groups parcels by risk of lead paint.
