What to know

Immunization information systems (IIS) are confidential, population-based, computerized databases that record all immunization doses administered by participating providers to persons residing within a given geopolitical area. This information details how to access immunization records for vaccine recipients who received a vaccine in Pennsylvania.

General Information

Pennsylvania's IIS is the Pennsylvania Statewide Immunization Information System (PA-SIIS), and it includes immunization records for vaccine recipients of all ages. Visit this webpage to learn more about the IIS.

Child Consent to Participate

For children, PA-SIIS requires explicit consent with opt-in by operational policy. Parent(s)/guardian(s) must give explicit consent, or opt in, for their children to participate in the IIS.

Adult Consent to Participate

For adults, PA-SIIS requires explicit consent with opt-in by operational policy. Adults must give explicit consent, or opt in, to participate in the IIS.

Provider Reporting

Pennsylvania does have a mandate for vaccination providers to report immunizations to PA-SIIS. The reporting mandate:

  • Applies only to certain providers and
  • Applies only under specific circumstances.

Data Sharing

Pennsylvania does have a policy that regulates sharing data from PA-SIIS with other public health entities. The data sharing policy:
