What to know

Immunization information systems (IIS) are confidential, population-based, computerized databases that record all immunization doses administered by participating providers to persons residing within a given geopolitical area. This information details how to access immunization records for vaccine recipients who received a vaccine in New Mexico.

General Information

New Mexico's IIS is the New Mexico Statewide Immunization Information System (NMSIIS), and it includes immunization records for vaccine recipients of all ages. Visit this webpage to learn more about the IIS.

Child Consent to Participate

For children, NMSIIS requires implicit consent with opt-out by law. Children are included in the IIS unless their parent(s)/guardian(s) choose to opt them out.

For adults, NMSIIS requires implicit consent with opt-out by law. Adults are included in the IIS unless they choose to opt out.

Provider Reporting

New Mexico does have a mandate for vaccination providers to report immunizations to NMSIIS. The reporting mandate:

Data Sharing

New Mexico does have a policy that regulates sharing data from NMSIIS with other public health entities. The data sharing policy:

  • Requires a data use/sharing agreement or memorandum of understanding and
