What to know

Immunization information systems (IIS) are confidential, population-based, computerized databases that record all immunization doses administered by participating providers to persons residing within a given geopolitical area. This information details how to access immunization records for vaccine recipients who received a vaccine in Mississippi.

General Information

Mississippi’s IIS is the Mississippi Immunization Information Exchange (MIIX), and it includes immunization records for vaccine recipients of all ages. Visit this webpage to learn more about the IIS.

The jurisdiction is authorized by law to operate MIIX. For more information, please see Mississippi Code § 41-88-3(2).

Child Consent to Participate

For children, MIIX requires mandatory inclusion by operational policy. Children are included in the IIS with no possibility for their parent(s)/guardian(s) to opt them out.

Adult Consent to Participate

For adults, MIIX requires mandatory inclusion by operational policy. Adults are included in the IIS with no possibility to opt out.

Provider Reporting

Mississippi does have a mandate for vaccination providers to report immunizations to MIIX. The reporting mandate:

  • Applies only to a subset of vaccine recipients.

Mississippi does have a policy that regulates sharing data from MIIX with other public health entities. The data sharing policy:

  • Requires a data use/sharing agreement or memorandum of understanding and
