IIS Policies: Minnesota

What to know

Immunization information systems (IIS) are confidential, population-based, computerized databases that record all immunization doses administered by participating providers to persons residing within a given geopolitical area. This information details how to access immunization records for vaccine recipients who received a vaccine in Minnesota.

General Information

Minnesota’s IIS is the Minnesota Immunization Information Connection (MIIC), and it includes immunization records for vaccine recipients of all ages. Visit this webpage to learn more about the IIS.

The jurisdiction is authorized by law to operate MIIC. For more information, please see Minnesota Statutes 144.3351.

Child Consent to Participate

For children, MIIC requires implicit consent with opt-out by operational policy. Children are included in the IIS unless their parent(s)/guardian(s) choose to opt them out.

Adult Consent to Participate

For adults, MIIC requires implicit consent with opt-out by operational policy. Adults are included in the IIS unless they choose to opt out.
