IIS Policies: Louisiana

Purpose

Immunization information systems (IIS) are confidential, population-based, computerized databases that record all immunization doses administered by participating providers to persons residing within a given geopolitical area. This information details how to access immunization records for vaccine recipients who received a vaccine in Louisiana.

General Information

Louisiana’s IIS is called LINKS, and it includes immunization records for vaccine recipients of all ages. Visit this webpage to learn more about the IIS.

Child Consent to Participate

For children, LINKS requires implicit consent with opt-out by law. Children are included in the IIS unless their parent(s)/guardian(s) choose to opt them out.

For adults, LINKS requires implicit consent with opt-out by law. Adults are included in the IIS unless they choose to opt out.

Provider Reporting

Louisiana does have a mandate for vaccination providers to report immunizations to LINKS. The reporting mandate:
