IIS Policies: Alabama

What to know

Immunization information systems (IIS) are confidential, population-based, computerized databases that record all immunization doses administered by participating providers to persons residing within a given geopolitical area. This information details how to access immunization records for vaccine recipients who received a vaccine in Alabama.

General Information

Alabama's IIS is the Immunization Patient Registry with Integrated Technology (ImmPRINT), and it includes immunization records for vaccine recipients of all ages. Visit this webpage to learn more about the IIS.

The jurisdiction is authorized by law to operate ImmPRINT. For more information, please see Code of Alabama § 22-11B-2.

Child Consent to Participate

For child Medicaid recipients, ImmPRINT requires mandatory inclusion by law. These children are included in the IIS with no possibility for their parent(s)/guardian(s) to opt them out.

For all other children, ImmPRINT requires implicit consent with opt-out by operational policy. These children are included in the IIS unless their parent(s)/guardian(s) choose to opt them out.
