CDC Acute Flaccid Myelitis Task Force

In November 2018, CDC called for the establishment of an Acute Flaccid Myelitis Task Force (AFM-TF) to aid in the ongoing investigation to define the cause of, and improve treatment and outcomes for, patients with AFM. The AFM-TF held its first in-person meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, on December 4, 2018.

The AFM-TF functions as a workgroup of the Board of Scientific Counselors (BSC), Deputy Director for Infectious Diseases, and is co-chaired by two members of the BSC. The Task Force members represent a variety of collaborators and partner organizations including academia, federal agencies listed in the BSC charter, and state health departments.
