LFU/LTD = Loss to follow-up / Loss to documentation
In many regions the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted the delivery of health care services in 2020, including newborn hearing screening and follow-up diagnostic and intervention services. As a result, infants born in 2020 and needing hearing screening and/or follow-up services may have experienced delays or had difficulties obtaining these services.
Data include information about any services that infants born in the calendar year 2020 received through 2021, until time of survey reporting.
Ω The number of “Births According to Vital Records” was not available. The number of “Births Reported to EHDI program” was used to populate this field.
α The Percent Screened (Based on # of Vital Records Births) is over 100% because the number of infants screened is based on the EHDI program and Vital Records’ birth number is the number of issued birth certificates.
* Percent Screened: (# Screened for Hearing Loss / # Total Occurrent Births Reported to EHDI Program) * 100
† Percent Screened based on number of Vital Record Births: (# Screened for Hearing Loss / Total Occurent Births According to Vital Records) * 100
¶ Overall Percent LFU / LTD among EHDI Births: ((# Contacted but Unresponsive + # Unable to Contact + # Unknown) / # Total Occurrent Births Reported to EHDI Program) * 100
** Percent LFU / LTD due to Unable to Contact and Unknown among EHDI Births : ((# Unable to Contact + # Unknown) / # Total Occurrent Births Reported to EHDI Program) * 100
†† Percent Unresponsive due to Parents Contacted but Unresponsive among EHDI Births: (# Contacted but Unresponsive / # Total Occurrent Births Reported to EHDI Program) * 100
