New Listeria Factsheets
CDC has created factsheets for people at higher risk for Listeria:
- Factsheet for pregnant people
- Factsheet for adults 65 or older
- Factsheet for people with weakened immune systems
The factsheets explain why Listeria is especially harmful for people in these risk groups. The factsheets also provide actionable steps people can take to prevent getting sick, including a list of foods to avoid and foods to choose instead.

Salmonella and other harmful germs can live on both the outside and inside of normal-looking eggs. Many holiday favorites, like eggnog or tiramisu, include raw eggs. Always use pasteurized eggs if you’re preparing these or other foods that may contain raw egg.
