Waterborne Disease & Outbreak Surveillance
Surveillance, or tracking illness and injury, provides information that can help prevent future disease and outbreaks. Although most waterborne illnesses are not part of recognized outbreaks, outbreak surveillance provides important information on how germs, chemicals, or toxins spread, and which types of water are linked to people getting sick. Waterborne disease and outbreak investigations give us information that can be used to prevent contamination, illness, and future disease outbreaks.
