A new Vaccine Information Statement for Smallpox/Monkeypox vaccine has been posted on June 1, 2022. It may be used starting immediately.
New PCV VIS and Updated Zoster/Shingles (Recombinant) VISs Now Available
A new Vaccine Information Statement for pneumococcal conjugate vaccine and an updated VIS for recombinant zoster vaccine have been posted. We encourage providers to begin using these VISs immediately, but stocks of the previous editions may be used until exhausted.
- The new pneumococcal conjugate VIS includes all currently available pneumococcal conjugate vaccines (PCV13, PCV15, and PCV20). This interim VIS replaces the previous PCV13 VIS.
- The updated zoster/shingles (recombinant) VIS reflects recent changes to indications for use of the vaccine.
New Dengue VIS Now Available
A new Vaccine Information Statement for dengue vaccine has been posted on December 17, 2021. It may be used starting immediately.
Updated Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Rotavirus, and Multi-Pediatric VISs Now Available
Updated VISs for hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and rotavirus vaccines have been posted. An updated version of the “Your Child’s First Vaccines” multiple pediatric vaccines VIS is also available now on our website. Providers are encouraged to begin using these updated VISs immediately, but stocks of the previous editions may be used until exhausted.

Updated Hepatitis B VIS is Available
The Hepatitis B VIS has received a minor update, noting that a 2-dose series is available. Stocks of the existing (7/20/16) edition may be used up before switching to this updated edition.
Updated Meningococcal ACWY and DTaP VISs are Available
Updated Vaccine Information Statements for Meningococcal ACWY Vaccine and DTaP Vaccine have been posted on August 24, 2018. These new interim versions may be used starting immediately, although stocks of the previous editions may still be used until exhausted.
- The new MenACWY VIS removes reference to the meningococcal polysaccharide vaccine (MPSV4) which is no longer available in the United States. Otherwise, changes to this VIS are minimal.
- The new DTaP VIS reflects changes to the recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices with regard to contraindications and precautions for vaccination.
Updated Anthrax VIS is Available
An updated Vaccine Information Statement for anthrax vaccine has been posted on March 21, 2018. It may be used starting immediately.
Updated VIS for Rotavirus Vaccine is Available Now
The rotavirus VIS has been updated to replace an outdated link to information about porcine circovirus. No other changes have been made to the VIS. While we encourage providers to begin using the updated VIS as soon as possible, stocks of the previous edition may still be used until exhausted.
Recombinant Zoster VIS, and Updated MMR, MMRV, Varicella, and Live Zoster VISs, are Available Now
A Vaccine Information Statement for recombinant zoster vaccine has been posted on February 12, 2018 and may be used starting immediately.
Also, updated VISs for live zoster vaccine, MMR, MMRV, and varicella have been posted. We encourage providers to begin using these VISs immediately, but stocks of the previous editions may be used until exhausted.
Cholera VIS is Available
A Vaccine Information Statement for cholera vaccine has been posted on July 6, 2017. It may be used starting immediately.
Gardasil-4 is no longer available.
Now that Gardasil-4 is no longer available for use in the United States since the last doses expired on May 1, 2017, the Gardasil-4 VIS has been removed from website. Providers should use the Gardasil-9 VIS when administering HPV vaccine.
Updated VIS for Td Available Now.
The Td VIS has been updated to correct an error. The first bullet under the “Talk to your doctor . . .” part of Section 3 (“have seizures or another nervous system problem”) has been removed. This precaution applies to Tdap vaccine, but not to Td. Providers who continue to use up existing stocks of the outgoing (2/24/2015) VIS should be aware that this is NOT a precaution for Td.
Updated VIS for Gardasil-9 is Available Now.
An updated VIS for Gardasil-9 has been released, containing information about the recently-approved 2-dose schedule. Otherwise, it is the same as the existing Gardasil-9 VIS. While this updated VIS should ideally begin to be used now, existing stocks of the current VIS may continue to be used, particularly for patients using the 3-dose schedule.
Note that the VIS no longer specifies “Gardasil-9.” This is because Gardasil-9 will soon be the only HPV vaccine available in the U.S., as Cervarix and Gardasil (quadrivalent HPV vaccine) will no longer be sold in the United States. The appropriate VISs should continue to be used for those two vaccines as long as unexpired doses remain available.
Updated Serogroup B Meningococcal (MenB) Vaccine VIS is Available Now
An updated edition of the MenB vaccine VIS has been posted. This VIS is now final, as opposed to interim, edition. While we encourage providers to begin using this VIS immediately, stocks of the previous edition may still be used until exhausted.
Updated Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, and Polio Vaccine VISs are Available Now
Updated editions of the hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and polio vaccine VISs have been posted. These VISs are now final, as opposed to interim, editions. While we encourage providers to begin using these VISs immediately, stocks of the previous editions may still be used until exhausted.
Updated Meningococcal and HPV9 VISs are Available Now
Updated editions of the Meningococcal (quadrivalent, ACWY) and HPV-9 VISs have been posted. Neither differs significantly from the existing VIS, but both are now final, as opposed to interim, editions. We encourage providers to begin using these VISs immediately, but stocks of the previous editions may still be used until exhausted.
