Background
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Office on Smoking and Health (OSH) announces the availability of fiscal year 2025(FY 25) funds to provide commercial tobacco control prevention and control policy and legal technical assistance to the currently awarded National Tobacco Control Program (NTCP) recipients and their partners to advance and translate evidence-based public health policy. This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) supports OSH and NTCP's national goals: 1) Prevent initiation of tobacco use (including emerging products and e-cigarettes) among youth and young adults; 2) Promote quitting among adults and youth; 3) Eliminate exposure to secondhand smoke (SHS); and 4) Identify and eliminate tobacco-related disparities among population groups. The expected outcomes of providing policy and legal technical assistance include the following:
- Increased knowledge of public health law and evidence-based tobacco control policy strategies and activities among the NTCP recipient and their partners.
- Increased application/use of evidence-based tobacco control policy strategies and activities at the state and local level among the NTCP recipient and their partners.
*When CDC references tobacco, the reference is for commercial tobacco and not the sacred and traditional use of tobacco by some American Indian communities.
Eligibility
These funds will be awarded to the recipient currently funded under the Tobacco Prevention and Control-Related Public Health Law Technical Assistance, CDC-RFA-DP21-2103 for the budget period of 6/30/2024 – 6/29/2025.
