How to prepare

Use the following steps to prepare for submitting your application:

  1. Review the eligibility requirements to determine if you are eligible to apply.
  2. Gather the following information for your application:
    1. Your contact information.
    2. Your college education and professional development.
    3. Your work and volunteer experience.
    4. Any published articles, presentations, grants, honors, and awards you have produced or received.
  3. Prepare answers (300 words or less) to the following personal statement questions:
    1. How will completing this fellowship help you achieve your goals?
    2. How do you anticipate using the concepts and skills learned in this fellowship?
    3. What is your experience with incorporating new content into your curricula? Include at least one example in your answer to this question.
  4. Identify one person to complete the online recommendation form on your behalf. This person should be able to speak to your skills and strengths, and should be one of the following:
    1. An administrator from your school (for example, your principal).
    2. Your department chair.
    3. Your supervisor.
  5. Provide your recommendation writer with this Recommender's Guide.

The recommendation form must be submitted by the application deadline. Late submissions and applications without a recommendation form will not be considered. If more than one recommendation form is submitted, we will only review the first form submitted.

How to apply

Use the following steps to submit your application by the deadline:

  1. Access the Science Ambassador Fellowship Online Application and follow the instructions.
  2. Complete the online application form by entering your information, responding to the personal statement questions, and uploading required materials.
  3. Enter an email address for the one person you have chosen to complete your recommendation form. Only one recommendation will be accepted.
  4. Verify that you have completed the form and provided all requested materials.
  5. Contact your recommendation writer to ensure they received a recommendation email and are aware when their response is due.
  6. Submit your application by the application deadline.

Please note: Late applications will not be considered. Only contact information can be changed after you submit your application.

What to expect

After submitting your application, you will receive an automatic confirmation email. You will also receive email updates on the status of your application.

Your application will be reviewed by a selection committee. The committee will rank applications and select candidates. Applicants will receive email notifications regarding the committee's decision.

You can check your application status at any time in the online application system.
