The interactive web-based training module Recognize, Treat, Save: Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever for Frontline Healthcare Providers in the U.S. – Mexico Border Region is designed for professionals who treat patients from the U.S. – Mexico border region to help more rapidly recognize and treat the disease. The U.S. – Mexico border region has unique ecological and epidemiological factors contributing to high rates of RMSF.

Objectives

  1. Identify early possible presentations of Rocky Mountain spotted fever (RMSF) as it differentiates from other febrile illnesses.
  2. Recognize the window of time when doxycycline administration must be taken.
  3. List two epidemiological factors that contribute to RMSF in the U.S.–Mexico border region.
  4. Identify one way the team can work collaboratively to create an informed treatment plan based on clinical suspicions, even in the absence of lab confirmation.
