Communicating in Radiation Emergencies: Myths of Radiation introduces participants to some common myths of radiation and identifies communications strategies to combat these and other myths. The training uses person-on-the-street interviews to identify the myths and features a discussion between risk communication and radiation subject matter experts to set the record straight.

Myth 1

Myth 1: What you learned about radiation from television shows, movies, and comic books is accurate and is all you need to know.

Myth 2

Myth 2: Even the smallest dose of radiation is not safe and will harm you.

Myth 3

Myth 3: There is nothing you can do to protect yourself from radiation exposure.

Myth 4

Myth 4: Anti-radiation pills, natural supplements, and certain foods are cures for radiation.

Myth 5: It doesn't matter where you are or what you do, there is no way to survive a nuclear detonation.
