Is sex the only way I can get mpox?

Sex is just one of the ways that mpox can be spread. 

In the current mpox outbreak, the virus is mostly spreading through close personal contact with someone who has mpox. 

This includes close, sustained skin-to-skin contact that occurs during sex.

However, any close, sustained skin-to-skin contact with someone who has mpox can spread the virus. 

Contact does not have to be exclusively intimate or sexual.
