Impact of the Arthritis Foundation’s Walk With Ease Program on Arthritis Symptoms in African Americans
This flow chart shows 2 parallel paths of sample selection, one for the self-directed format and the other for the group format. In the parent study, 462 individuals were enrolled in the WWE study and self-selected their program format. Excluded from this study’s analysis were 345 respondents who self-reported a race other than black or African American. Of this sample (N = 117), 68 selected the self-directed program format and 49 selected the group program format. At 6-week follow-up, 52 self-directed (76.5%) and 46 (93.9%) group participants were retained. At 1-year follow-up, 45 self-directed (66.2%) and 39 (79.6%) group participants were retained.
