Chagas Disease: Optimizing Care for Pregnant Women and Children

Objectives

At the conclusion of the session, the participant will be able to:

1. Recognize the etiology of Chagas disease, including congenital forms.
2. Identify signs and symptoms of congenital Chagas disease.
3. Recognize the medical management of Chagas disease (testing, treatment), including the congenital form.
4. Discuss the diagnosis and management of infants born to Chagas disease positive mothers.
5. Identify one way the healthcare team can work collaboratively to address Chagas disease in families.
