This course will inform coaches, teachers, parents, and high school athletes about HRI. It will show how to prevent HRI and present factors that can contribute to HRI among athletes.
Although most incidences of HRI in the media involve high school football players, athletes of various sports activities and ages can become susceptible to HRI. The content in this course primarily concentrates on HRI in high school athletes, but it can be adapted to prevent HRI among athletes of all ages and activities, such as high school soccer players, little league players (ages 6–13) and college- level athletes.
The objectives in this course correspond to National Health Education Standards for teachers who seek to implement course content in their health education classes.
