Scenario Two Review

In Scenario Two, we learned about a high school basketball player who experienced heat exhaustion.  

 

We learned that the warning signs of heat exhaustion include
 

         Heavy sweating

         Paleness

         Muscle cramps

         Tiredness

         Weakness

         Dizziness

         Headache  

         Nausea or vomiting

         Fainting

We also learned that other possible symptoms include

 

         Cool and moist skin.

         Fast and weak pulse rate.

         Fast and shallow breathing.

 

Finally, if left untreated, heat exhaustion can progress to heat stroke.  

 

Remember to treat heat exhaustion by
 

         Drinking water, clear juice, or a sports beverage.  

         Resting.

         Taking a cool shower, bath, or sponge bath.

         Seeking an air-conditioned environment.

         Wearing lightweight clothing.
