Notice to Readers: Assessment of the Distinctions Between Public Health Practice and ResearchThe Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) has released a report, Public Health Practice vs. Research: A Report for Public Health Practitioners Including Cases and Guidance for Making Distinctions. This collaborative work of CSTE, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and Georgetown University Law Center may help public health officials, researchers, institutional review board (IRB) members, and their staffs distinguish between practice and research. Existing research, concepts, criteria, and cases are provided in the report to guide such distinctions.
