10/06/2022: Lab Alert: CDC Issues Health Alert for Ebola Outbreak in Uganda
Audience: Clinical Laboratories
Level: Laboratory Alert
On October 6, 2022, CDC issued a Health Alert Network (HAN) message about an outbreak of Ebola virus disease in central Uganda.
Although the risk of a travel-associated Ebola case in the United States is low, CDC recommends that clinical laboratories review information on specimen collection and transport and packaging and shipping for specimens suspected to contain Ebola virus. Clinical laboratories should also review their internal risk assessments and biosafety procedures and controls for handling specimens that may contain Ebola virus.
We encourage you to review the HAN in detail and share this message widely with your networks.
