Dispensing Tool for Pharmacists
The Iowa Board of Pharmacy recently integrated a new platform to assist pharmacists in identifying substance use disorders while making decisions related to the dispensing of prescription drugs. Pharmacists welcomed this new and efficient initiative, as it helps them make responsible dispensing decisions, while mitigating possible controlled substance use.
Statewide data surveillance integration
Iowa launched new data surveillance integrations on statewide mortality data between the Iowa Department of Public Health, Iowa's Office of the State Medical Examiner, and the Iowa Department of Health's Bureau of Health Statistics. This new reporting system allows for timely receipt of bi-monthly statewide data.
