Core Areas
Outreach Core: The Outreach Core focuses on addressing the social determinants of health that contribute to the high rates of injury and violence in communities. IVPC will use its ability to develop and sustain authentic partnerships with organizations and practitioners who serve populations disproportionately affected by injury and violence. The IVPC aims to integrate community strengths and lived experiences across each core. During the 5-year funding period, the Outreach Core will expand its network of partnerships, particularly those serving rural, Latino, American Indian, Veteran, and youth populations in the Mountain West region.
Training and Education Core: The Training and Education Core commits to growing the next generation of leaders in injury and violence prevention. Our strategy over the next five years focuses on developing the workforce. We will do this by developing innovative curriculum modules, offering immersive research opportunities, and providing mentorship to undergraduate, graduate, and early-career professionals. We are dedicated to recruiting and supporting a diverse talent pool, particularly from minority-serving institutions across the Mountain West. This ensures our future workforce reflects the communities most impacted by injury and violence.
