Marita Eibl

Global Health Center (GHC)

Dr. Eibl leads the CDC's Policy office, supporting global public health policy development to prevent disease and injury, and provides strategic policy direction to enhance CDC's global health mission. Previously, she worked at United States Agency for International Development (USAID), focusing on global health policy, programs, and budget, and at the U.S. Department of State, contributing to the Office of U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator and the Global Health Initiative. Dr. Eibl, with a PhD in Anthropology, has extensive experience in global health, policy, and diplomatic engagement.

Role at CDC

Dr. Eibl leads GHC’s Policy office which supports building country and regional public health policy to prevent disease and injury. Dr. Eibl provides strategic policy direction to advance CDC’s global health mission and engagement with Congress, U.S. government agencies, national and international partners.

She also leads cross-agency global health policy analysis, budget planning, and engagement for leadership and overseas offices.

Previous experience

Before joining CDC, Dr. Eibl served as Director of the Office of Policy, Programs, and Planning (P3) in the Bureau for Global Health at USAID. She also served as Chief of the Strategy, Analysis, Evaluation and Outreach Division within P3. Within the USAID Office of Budget and Resource Management, she served as budget analyst for the Global Health Programs account and gender. Dr. Eibl also served as the acting Agency Senior Coordinator for Gender in 2017.

Prior to joining USAID, Dr. Eibl worked at the Department of State where she was a country lead in the Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator and worked on the Global Health Initiative. Dr. Eibl also worked for the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response.

Areas of expertise

Dr. Eibl has worked in Global Health for many years. She has experience in global health programming, policy and budget, and diplomatic engagement and collaboration with multilateral organizations and other U.S. government agencies.

Education

Dr. Eibl has a PhD in Anthropology, studying women's access to antiretrovirals in Tanzania during the first authorization of PEPFAR.
