About

The Delaware Tracking Program is working to build public health capacity and expertise in environmental health surveillance. In addition, they are working to modernize data systems.

Their purpose is to empower people to make information-driven decisions that affect their health. This includes public health practitioners, healthcare providers, communities, policy members, and others.

Background

Delaware is nicknamed "The First State" since it was the first state to ratify the U.S. Constitution. It is the second smallest state by land area and the fifth smallest state for population.

Delaware has been recognized for efforts in improving public health metrics. These include reducing rates of smoking and infant mortality over the years.

Delaware Division of Public Health has maintained its public health accreditation each of the past six years. In 2022, it was named a Healthy People 2030 Champion.

2019: Launched the Delaware Tracking site, My Healthy Community, in partnership with the Delaware Department of Natural Resources

2020: My Healthy Community used as Delaware's COVID-19 pandemic dashboard

2020: Published the Delaware's Opioid Crisis story

2022: Published data stories: Insights from the 2014-2018 Delaware Suicide Surveillance Study and COVID-19 Vaccinations in the Hispanic Community

2022: Delaware Tracking Program receives funding from the CDC's Tracking Program

2022: Added Community Profile Reports and Equity Counts Data Center to My Healthy Community

2023: Launched new and updated content on My Healthy Community

2024: Launched phase 2 of the COVID-19 Dashboard to improve mitigation efforts post-public health emergency
