Blood Cobalt and Blood Chromium Tables Revised
On April 28, 2023, revised data tables for Blood Cobalt and Blood Chromium were published.
Data tables for blood cobalt (NHANES* variable name: LBXBCO) and blood chromium (LBXBCR) first appeared in the Fourth National Report on Human Exposure to Environmental Chemicals: Updated Tables, March 2018, Volume 1. The tables summarized data from NHANES 2015 – 2016.
In March 2022, the blood cobalt and blood chromium tables were updated to include data from NHANES 2017 – 2018. During this update, the summary statistics for blood cobalt and blood chromium were inadvertently transposed. The current, revised tables correct this transposition.
The two NCHS data files associated with these analytes [CRCO_I (cdc.gov) and CRCO_J (cdc.gov)] do not contain errors and were not affected.
The location of the revised tables and their associated NHANES cycles are:
Analysis of Whole Blood, Serum, and Urine Samples, NHANES 1999-2018
- Blood Cobalt (2015 – 2018)
- Blood Chromium (2015 – 2018)
