Samuel Cohen, ELI Alumnus Class of 2019

“I was lucky enough to have participated in ELI’s fellowship program in 2019 as a Training Specialist for the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. I didn’t realize how crucial this training would be. Less than a year later, we found ourselves unable (because of COVID) to deliver any of our in-person New Hire Orientation. Thankfully, my newly acquired skills enabled me to quickly create effective online instruction for our new employees. Now, a couple of years later, I am proud to announce that I have been promoted to the position of Director of e-Learning for DOHMH’s Division of Epidemiology, Bureau of Public Health Training. It goes without saying (but I’m saying it anyway) that this is due in no small part to ELI’s fantastic program, my mentor Walter Murphy, and the rest of the wonderful people at ELI. You all have enabled me to contribute in a way that simply would not have been possible without your collective tutelage, guidance, and support. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
