Dengue is a systemic and dynamic disease. A symptomatic patient can appear to have a mild acute febrile illness with headache and myalgia on day 2, and by day 4, can have persistent vomiting and other warning signs for severe disease.

Understanding the clinical course, recognizing warning signs and medical complications, and providing the correct treatment can prevent morbidity and death.
