Knowledge of emergency preparedness and tick/mosquito bite prevention

Location: Framingham

Purpose: The CASPER was conducted to assess the effectiveness and preferred sources of emergency or public health messages communicated to the public before, during, or following a disaster.

The CASPER obtained household knowledge of the following:

  • Emergency preparedness
  • Supplies
  • Relief
  • Needs and identification of barriers
  • Sources for health and emergency information

CASPER was also used to survey tick and mosquito bite prevention knowledge, importance, and strategies. Volunteers from the Framingham Medical Reserve Corps conducted the household surveys through the Framingham Health Department, Public Health Nursing office.
